CHM 101 - Conceptual Chemistry 3 Semester Hours Corequisite: CHM 102
This course is primarily designed for non-majors and will familiarize them with topics from general organic and biochemistry. Particular attention will be given to how chemistry is used in everyday life. Examples might include how sunscreen/ sunblock products work, why products contain specific ingredients, how drugs interact with the human body and new approaches to treating cancer. Special efforts will be made to familiarize the non-majors with principles and nomenclature used by chemists. Labs will deal with the study of various physical and chemical changes and concepts related to such changes.
