CMA 370 - World Film History 3 Semester Hours Prerequisite: COM 220 and ENG 112 This course is a survey of major movements in the history of cinema with an emphasis on filmmaking traditions outside of the US. Students will learn how historically important films have been shaped by socio-cultural forces, aesthetic and philosophical debates, industrial practices, and media technologies. This course will help students develop their media literacy and critical analysis skills. The course builds on the foundational concepts learned in Film Analysis to help students refine their understanding of film both as an art form and as a mode of mass communication.
