3 Semester Hours
Prerequisite: ENG 112  , CMA 370  , COM 220
This course will introduce students to classic and contemporary debates in film and media theory. Students will read works from major movements in film, photography, and digital media theory spanning from the early 20th century through today. We will also consider the capacity for films themselves to work as experiments in perception and theoretical interventions in their own right. After taking the course, students will have an advanced vocabulary in film and media studies as well as the ability to engage deeply and critically with all audiovisual media they encounter.
