EDU 400 - Education Foundations and Diversity


3 Semester Hours
Prerequisite: EDU 202 , EDU 205 
The philosophical, psychological, sociological, legal and historical backgrounds in American education are studied to provide a framework for understanding issues and trends in education today. Multicultural education is a special focus with emphasis given to the impact of socio-economic status, diversity and family dynamics on teaching and learning. Extensive reading and writing requirements provide opportunities for learning and critical reflection.

Note: A student must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program before enrolling in upper-level education courses or must have permission from the Teacher Education Program. Permission will not be granted to students who have less than a 3.0 GPA.
