SOC 355 - Sociology of Discrimination

3 Semester Hours
Prerequisite: SOC 101  or permission of instructor
With a focus on diversity, rather than merely perceived negatives of group differences, this class focuses on both the micro and macro levles of society to critically examine various forms of discriminiation. Forms based on age, sex, gender, race/ethnicity, social class, weight, sexual orientation and (dis) ability status are analyzed with frequent student input. Mechanisms of creating, maintaining, and potentially reducing negative attitudes and inequalities are explored.
